Kickin' It

Well, it's been over a year (what) since I quasi-jokingly forged the beginnings of a Bucket List, and I figure I owe it to myself, and to whoever might be reading this (still mostly me), to update on how that list is progressing...

Status: DESTROYED

Let's revisit:

1. Begin a bucket list (Covered this in November)
2. Listen to Sigur Rós in Iceland (Well, not live or anything but their albums still make an amazing soundtrack for the country's dramatic scenery, holy)
3. Have a birthday pint in a pub abroad (Listen, there may have been many pints, but that's between me and probably all of the inhabitants of Lerwick, Scotland)
4. Live in a château in France (Seriously, who does that?)
5. Drink Guinness in Dublin (Or four... AND I poured a Perfect Pint at the Storehouse)
6. Get a tattoo overseas (Thanks, Amsterdam!)
7. Volunteer in Russia (An experience deserving of its own entry at a later date, thanks to the SOS Children's Village in Pushkin)
8. Discover a new continent (...have to leave something to the imagination, hey?)

Cake also had a pretty good time

To be fair, I DID slightly tailor this list to include things that I knew I had a fair shake at doing. I didn't exactly set out to conquer many more specific things before I got to doing them, but now that I'm home I have had ample time to reflect on countless more wonderful experiences that I've had, including:
  • Learning how to play French Roulette at Casino Baden-Baden
  • Seeing real, live (not actually live, that would be terrifying) Viking ships
  • Cruising through some flippin' FJORDS
  • Watching the sun rise from an airplane and set from a ship
  • Accidentally hitting up the Heineken Brewery on its 150th anniversary
  • Guiding a walking tour in a city I had never seen before! (Dijon, France)
  • Skiing for the first time (which was incredible in the way that it is literally unbelievable how many times a person can fall and/or utter "I'm going to die" ...no pictures of this)
  • Escorting shipboard bridge tours like a pro
  • Swimming in a thermal spring and trotting through some lava fields
  • Hanging out in the Arctic Circle and experiencing White Nights
  • Meeting my spirit guide (spoiler alert, he's Irish), kissing the Blarney Stone and being serenaded by many lovely Irish men

Et cetera.

TL;DR? I have had the time of my life (so far), and look forward to many more adventures! Also if you're not into clicking all of those links probably you should just follow me on Instagram.
